September – “HOW MY HOBBY OUTGREW MY HOUSE” trunk show by Jan Kittle
Step by step Jan Kittle has made her way from a hobby quilter to a long arm business owner to a shop owner.  Claiming 3000 quilts under her belt, can you imagine the eye candy we will see!

October – “THE TIME OF OUR LIVES” by Kathy Wylie
Kathy Wylie is a multiple international-award winning quilter specializing in appliqué techniques in a “contemporary traditional” style. She lectures and teaches all over the countries at guilds, shops and quilt shows and is a CQA/ACC Certified Quilt Judge. Her work has been featured in magazines, and her designs are available as individual patterns as well as in her book “Sewflakes: Papercut Appliqué Quilts.”

October 19 – 22 – Kanata Quilt Guild Autumn Rhapsody Retreat in Morrisburg

November – “NO GIRLS ALLOWED” trunk show by Bruce Young
Bruce has been quilting for at least 30 years now; he originally started out taking a workshop because he wanted to make a quilt for his bed. His first quilt was cut out with scissors (oh those were the days) and hand quilted.  Bruce will also be bringing along his partner, Benoit and they will be sharing their rug hooking as well. We are definitely in for a treat!

December – Holiday Social and Craft – Season of Giving!
Enjoy the holiday season spending time with your quilting friends (old and new)!  Bring a sample of your Christmas baking to share.  A craft will be organized.  There will be a “Kanata Food Cupboard” charity drive again this year.  We will also collect socks (new or used), hats, mitts and gloves to help those folks living on the street to stay warm during our cold winter months.  This collection will be donated to “Shepherds of Good Hope

January – “FROM INSPIRATION TO DESIGN” trunk show by Krista Zaleski
One of our own members will be our featured guest speaker this month. Krista started quilting in 2004 and the rest is history.  150 quilts later she started her own business called Quilted 4 you.  She works in a variety of styles from traditional to modern, often creating her own designs.  In a previous life she worked in high tech but gave that up to quilt full time.  Best decision she ever made she says.

February – Block Party
This month will be a really fun and educational one, we will have some of our featured long armers presenting and teaching us some of their favorite blocks.  Come and join us as we learn and travel around the different stations.

February 28 – March 1 – In-Town Retreat at Kanata Legion

March – “GET AN EDGE UP” trunk show by Happy Wife Quilting
Jen Swallow is our “Happy Wife” this month.  Jen took her first quilting class during a military posting with her husband and family in Kansas in 2010.  Her class quickly turned into a hobby then a passion.  Jen owns and operates a small business from home where she offers quilting classes, long arm quilting and does some retail sales.  Jen’s specialty is testing and teaching the newest (and oldest) rulers and tools on the market.

April – “CREATIVELY GRACEFUL” Fabric Designer Grace Noel
A local up and rising young star from Almonte, Grace Noel will be talking about her passion, surface designing which includes quilting fabric.  There will be an exciting reveal for our members!

April 16 – 19 – Spring Retreat at Fort Coulange, PQ

May  – Annual General Meeting & Old Fashion Bed Turning
May is the time of our Annual General Meeting and Elections. There will also be an old fashion bed turning event with quilts from The Quilting Divas, an interprovincial Quebec/Ontario quilting group.  Many of the members of this group will be present at the meeting and available to meet with guild members after the bed turning.

June – Strawberry Social
Spring is a time for new beginnings and looking forward to our summer months of relaxation!  Let’s celebrate the year together by feasting on Strawberry creations and socializing with old friends and making new ones!  President’s Challenge reveal.
