November 2022Birdhouse Block

October 2022 There are 2 blocks: Preppy Pups or any other puppy/kitten block measuring 9 1/2 x 12 and for using your strips and scraps, Krista Moser’s Morsels Quilt with a triangle ruler click here, if you don’t have the ruler, make strip sets at 6 1/2″ that someone else can cut down for you.

September 2022 Pinwheel block,  7”x7” finished (please follow directions in link for size specifications). This block instruction sheet comes courtesy of She Quilts a Lot

May 2022 – Pat Sloan’s Quilters Stand for Ukraine Pattern, this finished block will measure 18” x 18”, and the star will be in blues and yellows with a white background.

For the ‘Quilt for Survivors’ block challenge, we will be making 7” Half Square Triangles (HST) using a combination of either 2, 3 or all 4 of these colors – Orange, light grey, cream, white.  Need help with this block?  If you search “easy half square triangles” for tutorials, many come up, here is the link for one we selected by Janet Wickell.

Let’s start with a nice easy block challenge.  Start with a 5.5″ square of grey and add 2 colours from your stash. To print the instructions, click here

Colour for Cross – Fabric A – Approx 9 x 11

        From fabric A: cut 1 4 1/2″ square and 4 rectangles 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

Background colour – Fabric B –  approx 10 x 16

       From fabric B:  cut 4  4 1/2″ squares and 4 rectangles 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

Sew one Fabric A rectangle to one Fabric B rectangle, press to dark side.  Assemble rows as per photo, pressing towards square pieces.
