Christmas Giving Campaign

We’re doing it again!   We’ve gone virtual for our Christmas Giving Campaign.  To continue our long standing tradition of giving at our December meetings to both the Shepherds of Good Hope (hats, mitts, socks, etc) and the Kanata Food Cupboard (food drive), we have set up a fundraising campaign with Canada Helps, an online organization that raises funds for charities.  Instead of collecting food and clothing, we will be donating directly to these two worthy causes this year.  We hope you will help us fill our basket full of donations.

The campaign is set to run until the middle of December, we will keep you posted on our progress at our monthly meetings.

The campaign was setup where donors names show, but you can select to hide your name if you wish and no one will be the wiser.  We hope you will join us in giving generously and continuing our tradition of supporting these two worthy causes by clicking here : www.canadahelps.org/en/pages/kanata-quilt-guild-christmas-giving-campaign

In Person Sew Day – Wednesday, November 17th

We are excited to have an in-person sew day on November 17 at the Kanata Legion from 9 am to 4 pm. The KQG adheres to all current provincial and municipal COVID guidelines.  If you exhibit any signs associated with COVID, please DO NOT ENTER the facility.

To attend you will have to show proof of double vaccination and you will sign in at the main entrance for contact tracing purposes. Please sign in first and then unload your supplies at the back door.  Maintain social distancing.

Masks will be worn except for eating or drinking or sitting at your table.  Hand sanitizer and the disinfecting solution will be available. It will be your responsibility to disinfect your table and chair upon departure. Bring your own lunch and drinks. Kitchen facilities will not be available.

If the number of Covid cases in Ottawa rises to a concerning level or restrictions are put in place by authorizing health agencies, the sew day will happen over Zoom instead.  We will keep you informed.

We hope you enjoy the day and being with your guild colleagues!

September Meeting

Technology got the better of us in September!  The executive would like to apologize to anyone who was not able to access our first meeting of the year.  Every attempt was made to reach everyone as quickly as possible.

We had a situation where people were sitting in the waiting room expecting to be let in, while the Host was sitting in a different room with one guest.  We tried our usual bag of tricks to connect everyone, and ended up sending a whole new meeting invitation by email at 9:15 a.m.    We are hoping this is an isolated incident and have escalated the issue with Zoom.      To compound the issue,  the web manager, Brigid, had a number of her emails land in her Junk folder, if you did not get a response directly, that’s where your mail went.
