A successful Charity Sew Day was held November 23, at the Kanata Legion, with about 24 members in attendance. Three designs were available, a Trip Around the World, Disappearing Hourglass, and panels with added borders. The room was buzzing with machine sounds and human chatter as quilters cut, pinned and stitched their way to completed tops. Below are a few of the works in progress.
A representative from Ronald Macdonald House addressed the group, expressing their appreciation for our contributions and assuring us of how much the quilts are valued by the recipient families.
Several members took home pre-cut kits to make additional tops, others took home backings to complete their work. All completed quilts should be returned to Leslie Whitby by the May 2017 meeting.
A regular Sew Day is scheduled for November 27, also at the Legion. Bring any project to work on, the usual sewing equipment, lunch and a $5 contribution to the facility use.
