Kanata Quilt Guild

First In-Town Retreat a Big Success

Thirty-six members enjoyed the Kanata Quilt Guild’s first In-Town Retreat on Feb. 22-23 at the Kanata Legion. Creative use of the space meant everyone had a full table to use for sewing, and there were separate cutting and pressing stations set up — always busy!  The meals were delicious and using of the lounge for meals together was yet another opportunity for getting to know one another better. Many hands make light work, as volunteers set up and cleaned up for each meal.

A silent auction, mystery prize, door prize, Bingo prizes, and goodie bags added to the fun, and meant everyone could go home with some new treat to enjoy. The show and tell session late on the second day featured previously finished items as well as works in progress from the retreat itself. Such talented quilters in this guild!

A huge Thank You to our president, Debby Holden, and her retreat team, for organizing such a smooth-running and enjoyable event. No doubt this is one to be repeated.

Quiltie Sew Day added

Please note on the Workshops page, that the Beatle Bag Workshop scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 16, has been cancelled, and replaced by a Quilties Sew Day. Bring those half-finished Quilties, or use a kit provided by the guild; help put together new kits, enjoy sewing with your quilting friends. Don’t forget to bring lunch! There is no charge (except for coffee/tea) for this sewing day. (9:30 – 3:00 at the Kanata Legion)

An additional regular Sew Day, for working on your own projects, has been booked for the previous day, Wednesday, February 15. Again, bring your lunch, plus $5 towards our facility fees. (9:30-3:00 at the Kanata Legion.)
