Kanata Quilt Guild

150th Anniversary Quilt

MapleLeafBlock2 The Maple Leaf Quilt which the guild is making in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary is coming together nicely. Marianne Gibson reports that she has received about 130 of the desired 150 blocks.

Did you perhaps take home a square with good intentions of making a pieced or appliqué block, but it didn’t happen? Please do finish it and bring it to the September 8 meeting. That is the last day Marianne can accept blocks for this quilt.

She is in particular need of more Green blocks, like the one shown here. The pattern may be downloaded from this link. If you prefer applique, you could trace a fresh, authentic maple leaf right off the tree!

Watch for news of Wednesdays scheduled in October, November and December, dedicated to assembly of the final product. Help will be needed with sewing, quilting and binding.
